Liberty Township

Welcome

Liberty Township was created by the board of county commissioners at its first session in April 1836. It is one of twelve townships in Porter County. It lies in the northern part of the county and is bounded on the north by Westchester Township; east by Jackson Township; south by Center Township, and west by Portage Township. As of the 2010 census, the population of Liberty Township was 9,319. The Township is served by the Duneland School Corporation.

Liberty Fire Department

Our department is made up of a dedicated group of men and women who are committed to protecting the residents of both Liberty and Jackson Townships. The Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department has proudly served our community since 1955.
